At 2 p.m. on Feb. 1, 2014, Oklahoma Comic Creators will gather at Speeding Bullet Comics, 614 N. Porter Ave in Norman, OK. Teams of 1-4 creators each will have two hours to design a super hero and craft an origin.
From 4 p.m. - 7 p.m., fans will be able to vote for their favorite "Instant Hero." All the competitors who complete a hero will be featured in the comic "Instant Heroes: An Oklahoma Comics Creators Anthology" from Speeding Bullet Comics.
Price, the co-owner of Speeding Bullet Comics with his wife, Annette, said the store wants to recognize in a fun way the creativity of the talent in Oklahoma. The store has previously hosted "24 Hour Comics Day," in which creators have 24 hours to complete a comic. A collection of those stories, "OK24," was published by Speeding Bullet. Price also worked with writer Sean Thiessen on the short film "Paradox" for the 48-Hour Film Contest in Oklahoma City in 2013.
"I think a deadline really motivates people," Price said. "And I have faith in the creativity of my fellow Oklahoma Comic Creators."
Each creative team will be presented with certain details at 2 p.m. on Feb. 1 that must be used in the creation of their character.
